Enter to win a Silver BK Art Lovers Package from the Brooklyn Arts Council
If you aren’t a working artist in Brooklyn, you may not have heard of the Brooklyn Arts Council, but their support of artists and arts administrators, special programs like Scene: Brooklyn and their own BAC Gallery in DUMBO, make a lot of performing and visual arts in Brooklyn possible. The Bushwick Starr, BWAC, Artichoke Dance Company, Brooklyn Ballet, Fulton Art Fair, and the International African Arts Festival all received BAC support this year.
Since they started in 1966, BAC has fostered the careers of thousands of artists (Spike Lee, Danny DeVito and Suzan-Lori Parks among them!) and they continue to work hard to promote and sustain the arts in Brooklyn. And now you can support them, too.
This season, consider giving or gifting yourself a BK Art Lovers Package. You’ll help bring teaching artists to public schools, open up doors and performance spaces for artists to present their work, and get a ton of free tickets to shows and private receptions, where you’ll meet Brooklyn artists and hear about their work first-hand.
These are a few of the perks in January alone:
-A free, $15 ticket and VIP seating at Cirque Off Jan. 17-20 at Triskelion Arts, with jugglers, acrobats, dancers, clowns, comedians, and puppeteers showing off their best and newest circus skills.
-A free $18 ticket to The House of Von Macrame–a musical that sets ” a pop horror fashion show” to spooky synth music”, coming in late January to The Bushwick Starr, one of the best independent theaters in Brooklyn.
-A free $7 ticket to The Brooklyn Center for the Performing Arts’s multimedia, puppeteering performance of Antoine de St. Exupery’s The Little Prince on Jan. 27
-A free $12 ticket to the solo show of dancer-choreographer Arturo Vidich’s The Daedalus Effect and other dilemmas , presented by New York Live Arts at The Invisible Dog, Jan. 24-26, where Vidich will move modular objects made by writers, sculptors, mathematicians, architects, and engineers like puzzle pieces to create this improvisational work and score.
These four tickets alone adds up to $52, more than what you would pay as a $40 Silver Package member, the entry level of all BK Art Lovers packages.
Each package, from Silver to Platinum, gets you discounted admission, VIP seating and special perks at BAC’s and their partner events featuring up-and-coming renowned artists in music, dance and theater; invitations to private receptions, openings and galas; discounts and special offers from BAC and friends year-round.
Check out the options on the BAC site, where you can also enter to win one of two Silver Packages with a Bring a Guest of Your Choice add-on. Just answer following question correctly–How many events a year does a BK Art Lovers Platinum Member get waived admission to?–in the form at the top of this page. The contest ends December 10, so get cracking!
