Chances are at least one of your proms was a total disaster, so now’s your chance to do it over with a date you actually like, and booze you don’t have to sneak in a flask! Inspired by director John Hughes and the spirit of that one-hit-wonder decade we all love (the 80s!), The Bell House and Brooklyn Based are throwing a specially themed prom Saturday July 11.

Forget going away that weekend — it’s gonna rain anyway. Get footloose with 80s DJs and live 80s cover band, THE ENGAGEMENTS (whose members have played with artists like Q-Tip, Mos Def, Sharon Jones and The Dap-Kings, Steely Dan, Rod Stewart, Bernie Worrell, Dr. Lonnie Smith, the Duke Ellington Orchestra, French Kicks, Whitney Houston, and The Isley Brothers).

Special Guest Chaperones Sara Schaefer (Late Night with Jimmy Fallon) and Dave Hill (comedian, musician, thinking man about town) will be your prom MC’s, leading activities like awarding the evening’s Prom King and Queen with iPod shuffles loaded up with 80s music! (You can totally try to win one by casting a ballot for yourself.)

Allison and Matt Robicelli, the amazing owners and pastry chefs at Bay Ridge gourmet shop Robicelli’s, will be selling their delicious cupcakes, Key Club-style, donating some of the proceeds to charity.

The Bell House will have a totally radical 80s prom backdrop, so you can keep the memories alive 4 eva! The Slope’s Medusa Salon will be able to accommodate a handful of ladies who want up-do’s, and the bathrooms will be stocked with Aqua Net for heavy primping.

Specialty cocktails are on the house from 8-9pm, and throughout the night, you can sip $3 glasses of champagne. And for all you wallflowers, we’ll have plenty of free snacks and finger foods! All for just $15 in advance, and $20 at the door.
