Huckleberry’s Late Summer Cocktail
Huckleberry Bar’s Stephanie Schneider came up with this refreshing alternative to the Bloody Mary:
The Late Summer
1 1/2 oz. Tomato Water*
1 1/2 oz. vodka
4-5 Anise Hyssop leaves (an herb found at most NYC Greenmarkets; substitute fennel fronds in a pinch)
1 big lemon wedge (a quarter of a small lemon)
1 tsp. sugar
Muddle Anise Hyssop leaves, lemon wedge and sugar in a pint glass. Add tomato water, vodka and ice and shake. Pour entire contents into a rocks glass and enjoy.
*Not as hard as it looks. Find instructions here>> and note that 2-3 large, ripe heirloom or beefsteak tomatoes yield 3 oz. tomato water.
