Yesterday we learned that Suzanne Fiol, the director of avant garde arts space Issue Project Room, passed away, from Georgia Kral, who wrote about IPR earlier this year. “When I interviewed Suzanne Fiol about Issue Project Room,” Kral told us via email, “I was taken with her honest, candid observations about the arts and about Brooklyn. Fiol’s passion was both palpable and inspiring. At one point she said to me, ‘I love everything and I want everything represented.’ Fiol will be hugely missed in NYC’s underground and emerging arts circles and among Brooklynites who were grateful when she brought IPR across the river, and with it, extremely ambitious art that questions art itself.”
