Super Fragilistic Tuesday

ocd.jpgEven if you’re burnt out from the Super Bowl (what a game!), it’s satisfying to know that if you want to whoop it up tonight, either because you’re excited for Fat Tuesday or psyched to see your vote really count this Super Tuesday (or both), there are places for you to go.

In Park Slope — which must have a secret Cajun population, since it’s home to almost every Mardi Gras party we know of — Union Hall is having a Mardi Fat Tuesday party, with Jambalaya, Hurricanes (a triple rum punch) and Cajun rockers like The Doc Marshalls. 7:30 pm doors, $10, unionhallny.com

gater.jpgThe oldest Mardi Gras party around, however, is at Two Boots Brooklyn, which has hosted a Fat Tuesday hoopla since it opened 18 years ago. Dinner ressies are pretty full, but you can order apps at the bar like alligator on a stick (or some other domestically raised reptile), and get a free Hurricane if you come in costume or masked. The New Orleans-style bluesy jazz sextet the Jay Collins Band will be playing after Gilly-Gumbo’s Cajun and Black Creole fiddle ’n’ accordion tunes. 5 pm doors, twobootsbrooklyn.com

kc.jpgFor dinner, the Slope’s Cajun Nono Kitchen is preparing a special menu, which was still TBD last night. One possibility: a crab boil. Count on King Cake for sure, though, and whoever gets the baby gets free dinner for two.

Other Cajun/Creole restos in Brooklyn that will be celebrating tonight: Restaurant New Orleans in Fort Greene and Stan’s Place on Atlantic near Bond.

For Super Tuesday celebrating, Solomon’s Porch in Bed-Stuy and Cafe Enduro in PLG are both hosting return-watching parties.

South 4th in Williamsburg is playing it both ways with their “Super Fat Tuesday” party. Drink $3 Louisiana beers like Abita’s Purple Haze and dig into free jambalaya while watching the primary returns on their projection screen. murphguide.com

Two other bars hosting festive events — though not in honor of this double-whammy day — include the new Bar Tano, opening tonight from 6 to 11 pm at 9th St. and 3rd Ave., and Pacific Standard on 4th Ave., where $5 will entitle you to taste some of our fave American cheeses, from Fiscalini Cheddar to Rogue River Blue, all paired with microbrews. 8:30 pm, pacificstandardbrooklyn.com vote-pin.jpg

And if no bars listed here are in your hood, surely you can convince your local haunt to turn on the TV or raise a glass with you. (We’re happy to post other events as we hear of them, too.)
