The Red and The Blue
Check out photos from the party on the BB Flickr photostream. Thanks to everyone who made the event an overwhelming success. Someday you’ll tell your kids you were with BB on the night Barack Obama was elected president.
If this isn’t the most exciting election in your lifetime, then you’re older than we thought. But not too old to celebrate with us the night of November 4 at The Bell House’s Red + Blue Election Night Party.
What makes this night Red and Blue, besides the obvious?
The Red Hook Vendors, for one. The ball fields may be closed for the season, but Rafael Soler (finalist at this year’s Vendy Awards), Fernando Martinez and Eleazar Perez will all be there selling pupusas, tacos and huaraches (hooray!). On the other side of the spectrum, The Blue Album Group will be performing Weezer’s celebratory “Blue Album,” start to finish. And we’ll be representing the party colors ourselves with homemade, Red and Blue cupcakes.
Other reasons why this will be an exciting night (again, besides the obvious):
Myopenbar is co-hosting and making possible two special, candidate-themed cocktails: Drambuie Rusty Nails (a nod to McCain, of course) and a Hendrick’s “GIN-eration Tonic” (to toast Obama’s renewing effect on the state of the union). Both drinks will be $4 all night long, and free from 9:30 to 10pm.
To lubricate the after-poll crowd even more, the hilarious Eugene Mirman will be MCing, and a likely, but still unnamed special guest will join him.
Most importantly, The Bell House’s two big screens in the front lounge and the performance space will both be tuned to CNN, so you can watch the returns and Wolf Blitzer’s touch-screen hijinks throughout.
Did we mention this party is free, in a brand-new, excellent Brooklyn venue?
The doors open at 6, and the festivities begin at 7. Happy voting, and hope to see you there!
