Tip Sheet: Mar. 18-Mar. 24

WEDNESDAY: Jazz Thing
Mark Guiliana, the go-to drummer for Jason Lindner, Meshell Ndegeocello, and Avishai Cohen, presents his own avant-jazz compositions with his most recent electric project THING. No cover, 10pm, Rose, 345 Grand Street, Williamsburg.
THURSDAY: Can’t We All Just Get Along?
Joseph Rivera’s new book “Vandal Squad” details the former NYPD officer’s attempts to stop graffiti as part of a special police unit; Powerhouse makes things interesting Thursday night by putting together a panel discussion between Rivera and some of his former partners and the very graffiti artists they spent years trying to apprehend, including COPE2, Ket, and street artist ELLIS G. 7pm, 37 Main Street, Dumbo.

WEDNESDAY: Indie Island
Baltimore-based Future Islands play delightfully danceable synth-pop that has just enough punk grit to appeal to the hip kids at the Market Hotel this Thursday.
FRIDAY: Hue and Me
Toast to high design, organized by color, at the opening party of Hue Are You? presented by the American Design Club. The Future Perfect, 6-9pm, RSVP.
SATURDAY: Baseball Lore
Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Michael D’Antonio speaks about the life of the late Brooklyn Dodgers owner Walter O’Malley (the man responsible for the team’s move to Los Angeles in 1958) at the Brooklyn Historical Society, in conjunction with the release of his new history of O’Malley, Forever Blue. Former LA Dodgers president Peter O’Malley and New York Times sports reporter Richard Sandomir will also be on hand for the discussion, which begins at 1pm.
Dawg Benefit
Willie’s Dawgs, Park Slope’s purveyors of delicious gourmet hot dogs at non-gourmet prices, hosts Shorts 4 Dawgs, a short-film festival, at 7:30pm at the Old Stone House. Proceeds from your ticket — which gets you movies, beer, popcorn and Willie’s dogs — benefit the dog run outside the Old Stone House.
Art Imitating Life
Aspiring Picassos looking for inspiration should head to Goodbye Blue Monday for their Draw-a-thon on Saturday at 10pm where live nude models will be arranged in dramatic tableaux while Epileptic Peat plays live in the background.
SUNDAY: Mac and Cheese Please!
Our vision of heaven includes cold craft beer as well as hot mac and cheese; you can indulge in both at the Great Greenpoint Mac Off, where pub crawlers start at Red Star, then move to The Habitat, Mark Bar and finally t.b.d. for samples of great gourmet mac and cheese and different drink specials at every bar.

TUESDAY: Belgian Brews
Bar Great Harry turns over its taps to the Belgian-style beers of Cooperstown, New York’s Ommegang Brewery, for one night starting at 6pm. In addition to four of the brewery’s five year-round brews (we recommend the Rare Vos), they’ll be offering Ommegang’s seasonal special Chocolate Indulgence Stout, which we hear is pure Belgian-chocolate goodness.
