Tip Sheet: Nov. 19-25

Rustic Northern CA charm
We got a sneak peak at the hotly anticipated Vinegar Hill House last night, in that charming cobblestone part of Brooklyn between Dumbo and the Navy Yard. The soft launch menu has dishes like the vegetarian blue cheese and roasted butternut squash tart and a braised lamb shoulder with smoky chickpeas and roasted fennel. Everything hot on the menu comes out of their wood-fired oven. We can’t wait until we can sit at their old-fashioned copper bar, but go now while it’s BYOB!

WEDNESDAY: Dance, Memory
Senegal’s male dance troupe Compagnie Jant-Bi joins Brooklyn’s Urban Bush Women in “Les ecailles de la memoire (The scales of memory),” a piece that references US and African history. It opens tonight at BAM, and we have a pair of free tickets to the first person who can tell us where the choreographers of both companies first met.

THURSDAY: Next on Lost
“Lost” lovers Jeff Curtain and Adam Schatz, the duo behind the self-described “recap-rock” band Previously on Lost, spent all of the show’s past season transposing each episode into song. The Brooklyners are playing all those songs — or, put another way, reenacting “Lost: Season 4″ — at the Bell House during their last live performance of 2008. Singer/comedian Reggie Watts opens. Get your tix here.

Beer-licious
This month’s installment of Barrette’s $25 beer and food pairings features three courses from guest chef Johannes Sanzin (of Fort Greene’s Olea, Pequeña and Maggie Brown) and libations from New Hampshire’s Pennichuck Brewery. We’ll give you a sneak peak at the menu: a pumpkin soup starter paired with the brewery’s “Big O” Oktoberfest. Reservations recommended; walk-ins welcome. If that doesn’t satisfy your beer craving, head to Cobble Hill’s Bar Great Harry at 6pm on Tuesday, when the bar will devote over half its 12 taps to Sixpoint brews. Meat and cheese appetizers available at no extra charge.

FRIDAY: Black Listed
Serena Williams and Chris Rock are on display, as part of the Brooklyn Museum’s Black List Project, that is. In the exhibition, photographs by Timothy Greenfield-Sanders and short films by Elvis Mitchell document black America today. Site>>n+1

Get Your Lit On
Our friends at n+1 magazine throw a big launch party at the Brooklyn Lyceum tonight at 9:30pm in honor of their seventh issue. Music and $1 $1.50 drinks (and lots of hot young literary things). UPDATE: We just heard that it’s $10 to enter, but free if you subscribe.

SATURDAY: Hollywood Shutterbug

Muppets Take Brooklyn
The name “Slutty Puppets” is, for better or for worse, not a misnomer at this raunchy event at Galapagos featuring hours of risqué performances and puppet acts. Site>bishopallen>

Video Helped The Radio Star
How does one solidify quirky indie cred? Members of the incredibly catchy, high-energy Brooklyn-based Bishop Allen (playing Saturday and Sunday at the Music Hall of Williamsburg) do it by appearing in indie films like Funny Ha Ha, and Nick and Nora’s Infinite Playlist. Site>>

SUNDAY: All Aboard
