Locally Sewn
fashionwk.jpgDumbo-based Fashion Indie kicked off Brooklyn Fashion Week 2008 last night with a show on the Brooklyn Bridge. Amid the chaos and excitement of the models walking along the pedestrian path, there was only one close call of a speeding biker narrowly missing a spectator. Looks ranged from club kid to Betsey Johnson-inspired to completely wearable summer dresses. We were most excited about a new designer whose designs (pictured) will sell in Barneys and I Heart next spring. (We didn’t catch her full name, nor was it on the program, but she’ll be walking in the Mandate of Heaven show tonight at 9 pm at 37 Grand St.) Love Brigade’s show on Thursday featuring a DJ set by Finger on the Pulse is sure to be a party, and Fashion Indie Market will be at Artists and Fleas Saturday, noon-6.
